Join our team as a Principal Service Manager

 

Role Overview

As part of our exciting business growth, we are seeking a Principal Service Manager (PSM), who can work on corporate and cross-cutting local authority transformation projects.

We are looking for experienced professionals with several years in a consultancy environment or working directly in the local government sector. 

You will have a track record of complex project delivery, involving multiple stakeholders, using data-driven insights, and making change happen.

This is a home-based role (anywhere in the UK), with some travel and overnight stays required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and contribute to projects using Peopletoo methodology, ensuring improvements are evidence-led and co-produced
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusting client relationships, at all levels, through effective project delivery and relationship management
  • Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, demonstrate value, and meet client expectations
  • Actively manage delivery team performance to meet programme objectives and enhance Peopletoo’s reputation.
  • Support the company’s business development strategy and associated processes, including tenders, sales pitches, and propositions.
  • Proactively take responsibility for your own learning and development and support that of colleagues.
  • Maintain up-to-date and relevant knowledge of local government reform, policy, and strategy
  • Work flexibly and responsively to meet client needs.

Experience and Competencies

  • 5+ years in either a public sector or consulting or direct local government role
  • Deep understanding of local government context and service delivery
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Excellent evidence gathering and analysis skills
  • Strong data interrogation, interpretation, and modelling skills
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and insight-generation skills
  • Resourcefulness, drive, and accountability for agreed tasks
  • Strong understanding of local government finance and budgets
  • Outstanding teamwork skills
  • Ability to lead small delivery teams

 

Salary and Benefits

This role offers an annual salary between £45,000 and £65,000, depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including:
  • Holidays: Starting at 25 days per year (plus bank holidays), increasing by one day for each year of service up to a maximum of 30 days. You also have the option to purchase up to 5 additional days annually.
  • Pension: A flexible, contributory pension scheme where the Company will match your contributions twofold, up to a maximum of 10% of your salary.

  • Travel: Reimbursement of expenses for all business mileage.
